MIRAMAR (CBSMiami) – Food was spread across the side of the road at the Miramar intersection of the Florida Turnpike and the Turnpike Extension after the driver of a truck apparently lost control of the semi Wednesday afternoon, tipping it over and splitting it open.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the truck was navigating a curve when it tipped, rolling onto it’s side. The trailer ripped open and spread the cargo, mostly food products, across a wide area at the side of the exit. A spokesperson said the driver apparently was driving at a speed to fast for conditions, causing the crash.
The driver of the truck, whose name was not immediately available, was hurt and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Traffic in the area was slowed even though the food mostly remained off the highway. FHP said arrangements were still being made for a cleanup.
